Gum treatment

Bleeding gums are not a small thing. They are the first sign that a tooth is losing its grip, and the sooner we step in, the more of the supporting tissue we can save.

We start by measuring the depth of the gum pockets to see how far the inflammation has gone. Based on that we choose non-invasive treatment, closed curettage or open curettage.

If teeth are already loose, we can strengthen them with a splint that joins them into one unit and spreads the chewing load. That often saves a tooth that at first looked like it had to come out.

How it works

• Measuring the pockets: We find where the inflammation is and how deep it goes.
• Cleaning: We remove tartar and inflamed tissue from under the gum.
• Splinting: We join loose teeth together so they stop moving.
• Follow-up visits: We check that the gums have settled and the pockets have shrunk.

Common questions about this service

Why do my gums bleed when I brush?

Almost always because of inflammation caused by plaque and tartar. Healthy gums do not bleed during normal brushing.

Can a loose tooth still be saved?

Often yes. It depends on how much bone is left around the tooth, and an X-ray shows us exactly that.
