Teeth whitening

Teeth darken over years, so you usually never notice it happening. Whitening takes them back several shades, and the difference shows right after the first session.

Before whitening we always do a check-up and a hygiene appointment. The whitening gel works on clean enamel, not on plaque, and whitening a tooth with untreated decay would hurt.

During the treatment we protect your gums with a barrier and let the gel work in carefully timed cycles. How long the result lasts depends on how you look after your teeth and how much coffee, tea or red wine you drink.

Common questions about this service

Will whitening damage my enamel?

Not when a dentist carries it out. Enamel remineralises naturally after whitening, which is why we finish with a fluoride treatment.

Will crowns and fillings get whiter too?

No. Artificial materials keep their colour, so they sometimes need replacing after whitening to match the new shade.
