Root canal treatment
When decay reaches the nerve, the tooth starts to hurt at night as well. Root canal treatment is the last chance to save it, so that you do not have to deal with a replacement.
We open the tooth, remove the inflamed pulp and clean and disinfect the canals thoroughly. Then we seal them with a material that stops the infection from coming back.
We check our progress with X-rays, so we can see the shape of the canals and confirm they are filled all the way to the tip of the root. A treated tooth is more brittle, so we often recommend covering it with a crown.
How it works
- X-ray: We find out how many canals there are and what shape they take.
- Opening the tooth: We reach the pulp chamber with the area numbed.
- Cleaning the canals: We remove the inflamed tissue and disinfect the canals.
- Filling and rebuilding: We seal the canals and rebuild the crown part of the tooth.
Common questions about this service
- Is the treatment painful?
- The treatment itself is done with the area numbed. The inflamed tooth beforehand usually hurts more than the procedure does.
- How many visits does it take?
- One to three, depending on the state of the tooth. If there is a pus infection, we leave medication inside between visits.
